ASSESSMENT RESOURCES

Below are a series of links to different assessment resources as well as instructional programs/curricula that are rooted in reading science. I have no affiliation with any of the sites listed below. As such, I do not profit in any way from the provided links. Each link is listed in order to provide you with resources and information.

This is a link to a pdf version of a letter sound identification assessment. It is important to have good assessment to drive instruction. The MLPP assessment is a good for assessing students strengths and needs in recognizing letter names, symbols and sounds.

This link directs you to the government of British Columbia "Teaching And Assessment Tools". There are learning continuums for oral language, reading, writing and math. These continuums provide insight into developmental milestones in each of the aforementioned domains. There are also printable materials for crating student profiles.

The PAST (Phonological Awareness Screening Test) by Dr. David Kilpatrick provides important information about students phonological awareness. This link provides access to a pdf version of the assessment as well as instructions.

LETRS training is a well respected teacher and adnimistrator educatoin program. This program was developed by Dr Louisa Moats and Dr. Carole Tolman and Dr. Lucy Heart Paulson, all well respected researches in the field of reading science.

Heggerty is a well respected and user friendly phonemic awareness program. I have not used the Heggerty program, but it has come highly recommend by a number of colleagues. This phonological awareness program was developed by the late Dr. Micheal Heggerty, who worked to establish strong phonemic awareness tools/resources for teachers.
